ANR is an abbreviation for “Application Not Responding.” An ANR error will be triggered when the UI thread of your Android game is blocked for too long – usually five seconds.

If the GUI of your mobile game is locked up, anything the user presses on the screen won’t be actioned. Post five-seconds mark, if the UI thread doesn’t recover, an ANR dialogue box will be displayed right in front of the users that their mobile game isn’t responding and will give them the option to force quit the application or wait for it to respond.
